Our Story
Since 1993, Angel Capital Scotland has supported early stage business scale ups in Scotland through our network, funder relationships, access to services and information sharing. Our members help generate leveraged funding for Scottish businesses, creating a platform for economic growth and transformation.
The Scottish business angel ecosystem is recognised as a global leader and partners with the World Bank in developing new angel markets internationally.
Our Purpose
We aim to improve and stimulate the angel market in Scotland by helping new investors and partners join our community and supporting collaboration among our existing members.
Angel Capital Scotland and its members work closely with Scotland’s national economic development agencies Scottish Enterprise and Scottish National Investment Bank and with Scottish Government to increase access to support and capital.
Our Impact
Angel Capital Scotland helped establish the world’s first public sector/business angel co-investment model with Scottish Enterprise in 2004. Most angel groups in Scotland are co-investment partners, helping portfolio companies access matched funding.
In a typical year, Angel Capital Scotland members will:
Invest more than £25m into early stage companies, helping leverage total investment of £75m+
Make around 100 investments, into a mix of new and follow on funding opportunities
Help create over 750 new high quality jobs in Scotland
Share their knowledge and expertise to support the next generation of business leaders
Support a growing number of company founders in achieving an exit
