Scottish EDGE Round 21 is now open for applications and the application window will remain open until 2pm on Tuesday 14th February 2023. The online application form can now be accessed via www.scottishedge.com
For Round 21, early-stage Scottish businesses will be able to submit an application for either our Scottish EDGE, Social Enterprise EDGE or Young EDGE categories, where eligibility is met (details of each category provided below).
PLEASE NOTE – due to a reduction in funding support, the Wild Card EDGE category will not be delivered in Round 21 of the Scottish EDGE competition.
Scottish EDGE Online Support Workshop – the Scottish EDGE team are running a workshop on Wednesday 1st February 2023, offering proposed applicants support and advice on the competition process. Any business wanting to attend the workshop can register here – Scottish EDGE Workshop
Zero Waste Scotland Circular Economy Workshop – part of the EDGE application process asks businesses to outline their Impact focus for their business. This Impact section asks a specific question about Circular Economy approach, and in order to offer advice around Circular Economy, a session was delivered previously by partners at Zero Waste Scotland, and this workshop can be viewed here – https://youtu.be/bcz9S73cVF0 . Scottish EDGE – through this main competition category, we will be looking to support between 15-18 high-growth potential businesses, who between them will share a prize pot of approx. £1m. Individual prizes are on offer of up to £100,000, and prizes are split 70% Loan / 30% Grant. The Scottish EDGE category also continues to offer the following highly-coveted special accolade awards – Net Zero EDGE, STV Growth EDGE, Circular Economy EDGE, Industrial Biotechnology EDGE and Creative EDGE
Social Enterprise EDGE – through the continued fantastic support from People’s Postcode Lottery, the top Asset-Locked Social Enterprise in the competition can win a prize up to £75,000, split 70% Grant / 30% Loan
Young EDGE – through the continued support of Scottish Enterprise, 7 young entrepreneurs will win Young EDGE awards in R21. The core prizes will continue to be £10,000, with one top prize of £15,000 awarded to the top selected Young EDGE applicant. All prizes in the Young EDGE category are Grant Only
R21 Support – in addition to the workshop sessions detailed above, there is also lots of support available on the Scottish EDGE website including our Competition Brochure (which tells businesses all they need to know about the competition, including details of the assessment criteria), Blank Application Template (this is a word document version of the application form to allow businesses to work on their answers before putting these on to the online portal) and Example 3-Minute Pitch Videos (these show the 3-minute videos submitted by some of our past winners).
